Enchantress by ChameleonCosplay Enchantress by ChameleonCosplay
Marvel's Enchantress at Heroes&Villains con, 26/08/2012.

Had a lot of fun with this one. Lots of firsts - my first comic-book cosplay, first corset I've ever made, first time using craft foam to try to simulate metal, first attempt at painting tights...

Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think I would have liked the points on the top of the corset to be more exaggerated, and I think I'll redo the gloves before wearing it again, because it was very difficult to bend my arms and ended up damaging the foam.

Hoping to arrange a proper photoshoot for her at some point. I'd love to have photos with an actual background. :)

Hi there! I am currently trying to finish my Enchantress cosplay and have butchered one pair of tights. Could you give me some pointers please? Ha ha.

Hi! Sorry for the delay - I rarely check DA any more :/ Glad to meet another Enchantress ^_^
Mine are actually thick stockings - I cut a hole in the heel and sealed it with fabric glue so that I could wear them over a pair of platform heels. The circles, I'm afraid, I hand-painted with fabric paint while I was wearing the stockings so that they would sit right and not be affected by the stretch. It was the best way I could think of to do them at the time, but the whole process was a serious pain. xD I have plans to make an armoured version in the future, and this time I think I might try having the tights printed.

How did you make your crown?? I'm having so many issues with my amora crown....also, how did you get it to stay on your head? Because it does lay flat on her face, but I don't really know what I'm doing with that :P

Don't worry, I had no idea at first either. It's craft foam covered in the same fabric I used for the corset, and then painted with the same metallic paint. I used liquid latex to glue it to my face - it was the only way I could think of to have it fit the way it does in the comics. And the bonus is it's not that difficult.
Good luck! Hope it works out for you! :)

hi , i'm also working on a enchantress cosplay :)
Very nice work. I was curious, how did you attach/make the rings on the socks?
I'm having a little trouble with that part^^

oh, fantastic! We definitely don't have enough Amoras in the world! :D
Thanks! :)
Oh my goodness, those rings gave me hell. I tried to research other cosplayers, but I didn't manage to find any that had done the rings all that well. What I ended up doing was buying very thick dark green stockings (I think they were 300 denier, just off ebay) and cutting a hole in the heel so I could pull them over shoes with a 5" heel. Yay for extra height! :P
Then all the circles were handpainted in the same metallic green fabric paint that covers the gloves and the belt. I had to paint them while wearing them or the paint would crack when stretched. Thank goodness the pattern is only on the front. It isn't very comfortable painting your ankles for hours while wearing 5" heels, though, just a warning. Have a great TV show on hand to alleviate the monotony. :P

wow painted? :o
very nice effect! And i'll keep the warning in mind, although it is for a friend , so she'll have to deal with it :D
my first idea was cutting rings out another green fabric and attach them on black stockings. But sewing it on is hard, and i'm afraid glueing will not work out :).
Maybe i should paint them too. I only have 2 weeks left! Stress-time!
We're going as Sif, Valkyrie (me) and Enchantress.

yeah...pretty much killed me. I decided it was easier than cutting fabric particularly since I'd have to use something that doesn't fray, or sew a lot of weird seams, and get the circles even, and measure the right size on my legs, and then glue them all on anyway...
The painting only takes a day or two, and the rings actually look like part of the stockings, so I think it's a pretty decent system.
Oh, amazing! Looking forward to seeing a pic of you guys! :D I really hope to meet up with some other Asgardian cosplayers. Most of my other cosplays have been made to be part of a group, but this one I made just because I wanted to. I love her, but I did miss having some other characters around. Maybe one day. :)

the cutting went really well and quick^^ so luckily no problems on that, just the attaching.
I'll give a first try with the glue, if that doesn't work, i'll paint. :)
Nothing as fun as cosplaying in group! Normally it would just be sif and valkyrie. But another friend of mine wanted to join too :)and we wanted to do something more challenging then last year (supergirl and wonderwoman) so we ended up with them 3. I can't wait to wear it ^^
And for you there will probably be a lot more thor and loki cosplayers now? Hopefully you'll be able to wear it in group one day^^

Nice cosplay, don't see Arora done that often! All you need now is a suitable Executioner and Baron Zemo and you'll be set! :)

Thanks! I know, I was trying to look up previous cosplays of her for advice and I couldn't find much at all! But I suppose that's kind of exciting, having a character that's not portrayed all that often.
I do wish I was taller, but not much I can do about that one, unfortunately. :P
Oh, definitely! I plan to wear Amora to a bigger con some day and hopefully come across some more Thor or Marvel cosplayers. :)

I imagine there's a strong chance that she'll appear in a Thor film sooner or later so once that happens I suspect she'll become more cosplayed. But now you can be the basis point! I remember thinking I'd love to try making a costume for Eric O'Grady's Ant Man, so I imagine there's not that many previous attempts at him!

Don't worry about it, I'm fairly short myself - we can live smug with the knowledge that our nerve reflexes are quicker than tall people's for emergencies! ;) Hope you do! I seem to see a lot of 'Thor Girls' online, not sure if they're attempting the actual Thor Girl or just a female Thor. Would love to see someone try Valkyrie one day - Secret Avengers is one of my favourite comic runs and teams.

haha I think so too, there have been rumors about Thor 2... though there's no way she'll be wearing the same costume in the films. Maybe I'll try her film version one day, but for now I'm looking forward to Lady Loki and Sif - I'd really like to pull off a composite shot of the two of them. xD
Ant Man! Definitely not too many of those! I think there are pros and cons to doing less-known characters, I guess. You tend to be recognised more, and people are more excited by the cosplay, if you do a character that is well-known, but you get the chance to create something pretty unique if you do a less obvious character. I gave up and decided to just pick characters I like, regardless of their popularity. :)

lol sure thing. I just tell everyone that I'm secretly 11'2", but I pretend to be short so that people are less suspicious of me...that way no one will suspect it when I take over the world. :P
oh, the "Thor girls". I think I've seen a few actual Thor Girls, and a few "fem Thor"s. I don't mind either, though it's a little weird when fem Thor wears a bikini version of his movie armour. Impractical. :P
Oh, I'd love to do a Valkyrie. I think I put it on my "possible" list for after Loki and Sif. :D

They usually adapt the costumes in the movies to suit - so Thor not usually wearing his helmet and being visually most like Ultimate Thor. Sif is awesome in the movies so I'm glad she'll be back. Yes, Lady Loki's are quite common too! I think in the comics Loki is the only character that I've been happy to have a female version of, unlike say Lady Bullseye or the female clone of Mr Sinister. Plus I've a soft spot for Doctor Doom and Lady Loki as a pairing. ;)

I imagine once the movie hits Ant Man will get more popular so there's that. Of course it'll be probably be either Hank Pym or Scott Lang as the main character so the best I can hope for is Eric as a SHIELD agent, since he started out as one. That's the trouble with being a second or third generation of an existing hero - you rarely get into the movies and the casual audience knowledge. Just ask any fan of Stephanie Brown or Wally West over with DC. But yeah, if you can make a cosplay for your favourite character, regardless of overall popularity, it's pretty awesome. I would love to make costumes for Captain Britain or DC's Captain Cold if I had the time.

Exactly, just find a size changing device and you'll be stomping about the place in no time! ;) I think there's a female take on every Male Movie Avenger - the Iron Girls from Iron Man 2 (that or Pepper Potts' Rescue - I suspect this might happen in Iron Man 3!), the Cap Girls from his War Bonds song (and the odd American Dream from MC2), Thor Girls... pretty certain there hasn't been any Hulk Girls (though anyone dressed as She-Hulk gets my vote cause she's one of my favourites - I hope Angie Hammon gets the role like she wants to) and I've not seen many attempts of the female Hawkeye from Young Avengers. I do wonder if any guy is brave enough to do a male Black Widow? ;) Not me!

Yeah, some female costumes are great visually but a tad impractical for battle. Valkyrie would be awesome to see! I've found a picture for you to use as a basis point: [link]
